I love the internets: Maru edition.

I called the cops on someone yesterday...

So about a block and a half away from my house I was about to cross an intersection when I see a little boy running around on the sidewalk in just a diaper and t-shirt (it wasn't thaaat warm out yesterday) about to go into the road. Luckily there weren't any cars coming. I sat there for a second looking to see if I saw anyone running after him and there wasn't. I crossed the street and pulled over to the side and sat there still watching to see if there was anyone around looking for him. I didn't see anyone. By that time the little boy started to come towards my car so I got out and walked across the street towards him. I asked him where his house was and he walked up to a door and sat on the steps.

He was probably only about 2 years old and I could tell he had something mentally wrong with him. I knocked on the door and no one came. I could see inside the house and saw no one in the living room. I rang the doorbell and a woman came to the door. I asked her if this was her son and she nodded yes. I explained to her twice that he almost went into the road that cars go by on quite fast and she didn't really say much to me. Unfortunately, she seemed to have something wrong with her as well and didn't really seem to be able to talk. She did come out and pick him up and bring him inside so I went about on my way. As I drove up the street there were two women sitting in a suburban who gave me a thumbs up.

I went home and my hands were shaking and I didn't know if it was my place to call someone about it. After talking to three different people, they convinced me I should just call the police and report it, just in case something like this has happened before. So I did. I couldn't help but feel bad that maybe just this one time her son got away from her and she gets the cops called, but I don't know that. The police officer was very nice and thanked me for calling. He stopped by and talked to her (I can see their house from mine).

So just out of curiosity, was this something you would have done?

#2, and #3 Google images for Birthday

Anyways, Happy Birthday Mike!!! Even though you have to work a double today just think of how fun this weekend will be and try and enjoy your day. P.S. You also have a mini-vacation coming up in two days!

Also, Happy Birthday to Jen (mike's sister)! Jen, the weekend fun applies to you too.

I'm not saying the pictures correspond to both Mike and Jen...but they might :)

(weird appearance: google says its number 1 "related search is 'hitler birthday'")

Honk!

In my perusing for cheap toys for the carnival i'm beginning to plan I came across this. I couldn't stop laughing. Does it not look like a Southpark character?

These are "multicultural kids inflatables" No comment except for to say I'm scared of how serial killer looking the guy in the overalls is. Or is it just me that's creeped out? Am I missing the ethnicity that has red glowing eyes?

Oh northern Wisconsin...you are a fickle one

It was 70 degrees two days ago...and its snowing now.

Update: Photographic evidence.

Friday Favorite

Two of my favorites, scrapbooking (which I am telling myself I'm going to do more of now) and my owl ornament that I got this christmas.

And another favorite, Angie and Dave's Christmas card that was just too cute to throw away. It pulls out from behind the picture so it'll always be right there with my page.

It sure would be nice to have a scanner.

I go through this every couple of months

After a lengthy talk with Holly last night, I just want to exclaim again, I miss my friends! It's been so long since I've talked to so many of them, or should I say, spent time with them. What's awful is now when everyone is gearing up for summer and possibly vacations, I'm gearing up for working seven days a week. I really need the money, so its ok but its hard to psyche yourself up when you know you are going to have to say no over and over to getting together with people because of your work schedule. In short, I miss you all! And here's my two favorite "I miss you" google images to prove it.

Ha Cha Cha! Look what Mike did!

We have a floor!!! He worked his butt off last night to get this in.

Next its installing the sink and putting up the mirror/vanity and then trim work. Oh and I get to make some curtains for the once again extremely odd size windows.

And for your viewing pleasure.... A cartridge in a bare tree:
This was sitting up on the ledge at the townie bar we went to this weekend. I asked for an explanation. Someone brought it in for them at Christmas time. Although you can't see the bullet or cartridge, its there.

Yippee

Yesterday the bathroom officially became a painted room. No more piles of drywall dust! It's a lovely "Butter Cookie" color. Mike's going to try his hand at doing the floor tomorrow while I'm at work. Pretty cool.

Guess what

We primed our bathroom last night! Pretty exciting stuff if you ask me. Now tomorrow or Thursday we're going to paint. Then this weekend the floor will probably go in. It's awesome to see progress! Mike has been a little worker-bee lately and things are really moving. Btw, we now have one floor to ceiling cabinet that our pots and pans can go in, instead of in a box under the card table in the kitchen. There's doors so everything won't get all dusty every time there's a new project going on! Nice right? To me, it's wonderful.

Oh and how is it, that no matter what I ALWAYS think painting is going to be easier and faster than it actually is. These poor little non-laboring hands got calluses from painting a tiny bathroom. Now just how pathetic is that??

Some exciting things happened last night.

1. We bought a cute new organic cotton comforter (that does not feel itchy!).

2. We also bought some reese's peanut butter eggs.
These things are amazing. We got the pack of small ones and before we even bought them, I was sad because, "they are going to be gone so fast." As a matter of fact I was trying to open the bag as mike loaded up the trunk and couldn't get it open. I handed it to mike and begged him to get it open and he said, "how about we wait until after the bags are in the trunk." How dare he try and hold a girl off on her chocolate and peanut butter!
